THE BLACK RIVER GREAT CIRCLE ROUTE
Highlights
- 167 mile Hike and Paddle starting at Lesterville, MO
- This is a spring thru early summer hike and paddle
- You will hike all 102 miles of the OT Wappapello, St. Francis, Marble Creek, and Taum Sauk sections
- You will float 65 miles of the Black River including paddling Clearwater Lake with 2.5 mile portage around the dam
- You will hike over Missouri's tallest peak, view Missouri's tallest waterfall, bivouac in shelters built by the CCC in the 30's
- This is a 14 day Hike and Paddle
The Trails
- Paddle 65 miles of the Black River from the Lesterville landing to the Hendrickson landing.
- Hike 35 mile of the Wappapello Section of The Ozark Trail.
- Road walk 18 miles OT St Francis River Section
- Hike 27 miles of the Marble Creek Section of The Ozark Trail (currently the trail crosses private property which may not be permitted).
- Hike 22 miles of the Taum Sauk Section of The Ozark Trail.
- Road walk 8.5 miles from Hwy N crossing on the Taum Sauk Section to Lesterville.
Coordinate with outfitter at Franklin Floats or Twin Rivers Landing Outfitters. Resupply at Williamsville, MO and at Greenville, MO. Franklin Floats can shuttle you if tired of a road walks.
